The beginning

The premise for this project is to engage with different people along the way and get them to tell me a story about the place. I will then transcribe the stories to this blog, and upload them alongside a portrait of the storyteller. The idea is that we will get to experience different versions of local experiences, history, and legend, so we can form our own absorbed memories of the place. All the participants will be encouraged to visit this blog, and also write their experiences of the day in the comments section. Hopefully, this blog won’t just become an accumulation of road stories, but a democratic account of human exchanges.

Having said that, the outcome of this project is uncertain. A language barrier as well as short periods for engaging with people are just a couple of the surprises, happy accidents and difficulties that will be encountered on the road, and which will shape what this project actually becomes.

This is just a starting point for Transmuted stories. How the interactions with people along the way shape it, still remains to be seen…
